Each regulator was connected to our flow bench, supplied with a regulated 500 psi and tested for:
- Inhalation Resistance (cracking pressure)
- Exhalation Resistance
- Maximum Flow Rate in Standard Cubic Feet per Minute (SCFM)
- a few notable design observations
It was a long day and we still have a lot to do. Remember this is not a fluffy infomercial supplied by an advertising manufacturer. Our team of diving Instructors and veteran tech divers will also take these regs to the deep end to see which, if any, can deliver under pressure (pun intended). Based on the bench data I bet some will fail. We plan to start publishing regulator reviews starting in May.
Manufacturers should NOT send us equipment directly, but should instead supply a letter allowing us to pull a random piece of equipment from a public retailer.
Please tell us what you LOVE and HATE about your scuba equipment (new or old). We would like one thread per piece of equipment (please continue an existing thread when possible).
